Handmade Dala Horse

I have recently fallen in love with Dala horses. I love anything Swedish actually. So when I saw this pattern I knew I had to whip one up.

It took me only a few hours to sew it up. You can find the FREE pattern here. I am over the moon excited by this little horsey. It is currently hanging on the window over the sink. I am planning on making another one in undtraditional pastel colors.

This is a super inexpensive project. I just used red acrylic felt from the craft store, a needle, baker's twine (you can use any kind of ribbon or string you have), poly fill, and DMC embroidery thread in 321, 973, 798, and B5200. I used 3 strands for the embroidery.

It would be so cute to make a slew of these for a Christmas tree!

  1. Your horse is very pretty. I like the snazzy socks in your posts (below) as well!
